Maria Jump
Associate Teaching Professor
About
Maria Jump is an associate teaching professor at Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She is primarily interested in educational strategies within computer science, specifically in regards to programming languages and runtime systems. Jump teaches courses in Northeastern’s Align program.
Before returning to school for her bachelor’s degree in computer science, she worked in IT, where she provided training and support for computer systems used by her company. Between her undergraduate degree and graduate school, she worked as a software engineer for a startup in Austin, Texas, where she worked on real-time day trading software. Jump received her doctorate in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jump is passionate about teaching and the study of computer science educational pedagogical strategies, which ties into her research interests in the area of programming languages and managed runtime systems.
