Local Leaders, Global Impact Series Enters 8th Season

Since 2012, Northeastern University’s Charlotte campus has hosted a Local Leaders Global Impact Series that pairs local leaders with relevant Northeastern faculty.

Topics are always timely and have run the gamut from sports leadership and cybersecurity to urban planning and data analytics. The goal of these events has been thought leadership and community engagement.

“From the beginning, we knew we were on to something with this series based on speaker and faculty excitement to participate and sometimes standing-room only audiences,” said Richards, who has served as CEO & Regional Dean since the Charlotte campus opened in October 2011.

The 2019 Fall lineup features impressive speakers including:

September 24 – Charlotte 2040: How the Queen City Plans to Grow Over the Next Two Decades

  • Michael Smith, CEO, Charlotte Center City Partners
  • Taiwo Jaiyeoba, Assistant City Manager and Planning Director, City of Charlotte
  • Dan O’Brien, PhD, Associate Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Northeastern University

October 30 – FinTech Success: The LendingTree Story

  • Doug Lebda, CEO, LendingTree
  • Karthik Krishnan, PhD, Associate Professor, D’Amore-McKim School of Business, Northeastern University; CEO and Founder of Mentor Works, Education Capital

November 21 – Progressive Companies Using Workspace to Drive Innovation
